Updating the Directory Plugin

Updating your Directory WordPress Plugin ensures you have the latest features, security improvements, and bug fixes. Follow these steps to update the plugin:

Step 1: Backup Your Website

Before updating, it's recommended to back up your website, including both the files and database. You can use plugins like UpdraftPlus or BackupBuddy for a quick and easy backup.

Step 2: Check for Plugin Updates

  1. Go to the WordPress Dashboard: Log in to your WordPress admin panel.

  2. Navigate to the Plugins Section: From the left sidebar, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

  3. Look for the Update Notification : If there is an update available for Directory WordPress Plugin, you will see a notification below the plugin name.

Step 3: Update the Plugin

  1. Deactivate and Delete the Existing Plugin: Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, find the DT - Directory WordPress Plugin, deactivate it, and then delete it. Don’t worry, your listings and settings will remain intact as they are stored in the WordPress database.

  2. Upload the New Plugin Version: Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.

  3. Click Choose File, select the new plugin file you downloaded, and click Install Now.

  4. Activate the Plugin: After installation, click Activate to enable the latest version of the plugin.

Step 4: Clear Cache and Test

After updating the plugin, it’s important to clear any cache if you’re using a caching plugin (e.g., W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache). Also, test your website to ensure the update works as expected.

Step 6: Test Your Website

After updating, check your website’s frontend and backend to ensure everything is working as expected. Verify that new features are available and no issues have been introduced.
