Listing Category

The Listing Categories section allows you to create and organize directory categories for better navigation and user experience.

Steps to Add a New Listing Category:

  • Go to WordPress Dashboard

    • Navigate to Directory → Listing Categories

    • Click “Add New Listing Category”

  • Enter Category Details:

    • Name: Provide a meaningful category name (e.g., "Restaurants," "Hotels," "Real Estate").

    • Slug: Enter a URL-friendly name (e.g., “restaurants”). Use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.

  • Assign a Parent Category (Optional):

    • If this is a subcategory, select a parent category (e.g., "Cafes" under "Restaurants").

    • Choose None if this is a top-level category.

  • Add a Description (Optional):

    • Provide additional details about the category.

    • Some themes may display this in category pages.

  • Upload Media (Optional):

    • Image: Used for "Taxonomy" shortcodes.

    • Icon Image: Displays in listing sections and maps.

    • Icon: Used for "Taxonomy" shortcodes and maps.

  • Customize Colors (Optional):

    • Icon Color: Defines the color for category icons.

    • Background Color: Sets the background color for category display.

    • Text Color: Changes text color for category names.

  • Add a Map Image (Optional):

    • If your theme supports map images, upload a custom image for better representation.

  • Click “Add New Listing Category” to Save.

Additional Tips:

✔ Keep category names clear and concise for easy navigation. ✔ Use consistent icon styles for a uniform look. ✔ Add relevant subcategories to improve search and filtering.
